E-Mail-Address: info@octagon-malta.com

3.            Collection and storage of personal data and the type and purpose of their use

                a)            When visiting the website:

When you visit our website, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to the server on our website. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is recorded without your intervention and stored until it is automatically deleted:

  • Visited pages
  • Date and time of access
  • Amount of data sent in bytes
  • Source / reference from which you came to the page
  • Browser used
  • Operating system used
  • IP address used

The data collected is only used to generate visitor statistics about the use of our website and to improve our website.

The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest follows from the data processing purposes listed above.

3.1 PERSONAL DATA

Personal data is information about the factual or personal circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, your telephone number, your address, and all inventory data that you provide to us when you register and create your customer account. Statistical data that we collect, for example, when you visit our web shop and that cannot be directly linked to you are not included. For example, these are statistics about which pages of our shop are particularly popular or how many users visit certain pages of the shop.

3.2 CUSTOMER ACCOUNT

For each customer who registers accordingly, we set up a password-protected direct access to his inventory data (customer account) stored with us. Here you can view data about your completed, open and recently sent orders as well as wish and comparison lists and manage your data, product ratings and the newsletter. You undertake to treat the personal access data confidentially and not to make it accessible to unauthorized third parties. We cannot accept liability for misused passwords unless we are responsible for the misuse.
If you do not log out, you will remain logged in automatically. This function enables you to use some of our services without having to log in again each time. For security reasons, however, you will be asked to enter your password again, for example if your personal data is to be changed or you would like to place an order.

3.3 COLLECTION, PROCESSING AND USE OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Data protection is very important to us. Therefore, we strictly adhere to the legal provisions when collecting, processing and using your personal data. We collect, save and process your data for the entire processing of your purchase, including any subsequent warranties, for our services, technical administration and our own marketing purposes. Your personal data will only be passed on to third parties or otherwise transmitted if this is necessary for the purpose of contract execution or billing or if you have given your prior consent. As part of the order processing, for example, the service providers we use (such as transporters, logisticians, banks) receive the necessary data for order and order processing. The data passed on in this way may only be used by our service providers to fulfill their task. Any other use of the information is not permitted and is not carried out by any of the service providers we entrust with.
We need your correct name, address and payment details to process your order. We need your email address so that we can confirm your order and communicate with you. We also use this for your identification (customer login). You will also receive your order and shipping confirmation as well as payment reminders or reminders in the event of a delay in payment via your e-mail address.

Your personal data will be deleted if there are no legal storage obligations to the contrary and if you have made a claim for deletion, if the data is no longer required to fulfill the purpose for which it was stored or if its storage is inadmissible for other legal reasons.

3.4 USE OF YOUR DATA FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES

In addition to processing your data to process your purchase, we also use your data to communicate with you about your orders, certain products or marketing campaigns and to recommend products or services that may interest you.

You can object to the use of your personal data for advertising purposes at any time in total or for individual measures, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to the basic tariffs. A message in text form to the contact details mentioned under number 1 (e.g. email, fax, letter) is sufficient for this.

NEWSLETTER
We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for sending the newsletter, i.e. we will only send you a newsletter by email if you have expressly confirmed to us beforehand that we should activate the newsletter service. We will then send you a notification email and ask you to confirm that you would like to receive our newsletter by clicking on a link contained in this email.
If you later no longer wish to receive newsletters from us, you can object to them at any time without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to the basic tariffs. A message in text form to the contact details mentioned in section 2 (e.g. email, fax, letter) is sufficient for this. Of course, you will also find an unsubscribe link in every newsletter.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS & REQUEST FOR PRODUCT EVALUATION BY EMAIL
As a customer, you may receive product recommendations from us by email. You will receive these product recommendations from us regardless of whether you have subscribed to a newsletter. In this way we want to send you information about products from our range that may interest you based on your last purchases from us. We strictly follow the legal requirements.

We are constantly striving to improve the quality of our products and services. For this reason, you will receive a request from us by email to evaluate the products ordered. Your product reviews are anonymized, saved in your customer account and made visible on the product. If a data subject leaves a product rating or a comment in the area for product ratings published on this website, in addition to the ratings or comments left by the data subject, information about the time of entry and the user name (pseudonym) chosen by the data subject is saved and released. The IP address assigned by the data subject's Internet service provider (ISP) is also logged. The IP address is saved for security reasons and in the event that the data subject violates the rights of third parties or posts illegal content by making a comment. The storage of this personal data is therefore in the own interest of the person responsible for the processing, so that the latter could possibly exculpate himself in the event of an infringement. The personal data collected will not be passed on to third parties unless such transfer is required by law or to serve as legal defense for the controller.

If you no longer wish to receive product recommendations or a total of advertising messages from us, you can object to this at any time without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to the basic tariffs. A message in text form to the contact details mentioned under number 1 (e.g. email, fax, letter) is sufficient for this. Of course you will also find an unsubscribe link in every email.

INDIVIDUAL ADVERTISING & VOUCHERS FOR YOU
Information we receive from you helps us to permanently improve your shopping experience and to make it customer-friendly and individual for you. The information you transmit and automatically generate is used to design advertising tailored to you and your interests. For this we use existing information, such as confirmation of receipt and reading of e-mails, information about the computer and connection to the Internet, operating system and platform, your order history, your service history, date and time of your visit to the homepage, products you have viewed.

After your express approval, we will send you loyalty discounts and vouchers by e-mail, which will give you discounts on future orders from us.

We use the information obtained only in a pseudonymized form. By analyzing and evaluating this information, it is possible for us to improve our websites and our website, as well as to send you individual advertising. This means advertising that recommends products that you might actually be interested in. Our goal is to make our advertising more useful and interesting for you. Therefore, the evaluation and analysis of the pseudonymized data you collect helps us to ensure that we do not send you random advertising. Rather, we send you advertising, such as newsletters, product recommendations, by e-mail or letter advertising, which correspond to your areas of interest. In this respect, for example, we also compare which of our advertising emails you open in order to avoid unnecessary emails being sent to you.
We use the data I have provided and other information stored on my customer account, as well as pseudonymized usage data, to present me with personalized advertising and / or special offers and services.
If you do not want to receive personalized advertising, you can object to this at any time in total or for certain measures. A message in text form to the contact details mentioned in section 2 (e.g. email, fax, letter) is sufficient for this.

b)          When contacting us by email

When you contact us by e-mail, the data you provide (your e-mail address, possibly your name and telephone number) will only be saved by us to the extent that you can process your request or answer your questions.

Data processing for the purpose of contacting us is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Para. a GDPR based on a voluntarily given consent.

We delete the data arising in this context after the storage is no longer required, for example because the request you have made has been resolved, or restrict processing if there are statutory retention periods.
